About this Event

Forest bathing+ method based on Japanese concept of ‘shinrin-yoku’ is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the forest atmosphere through all 5 of our senses, enriched by carefully crafted sequence of mindfulness activities backed by science to enable us to feel more present, grounded and to facilitate healing.

Despite the name, practice does not involve immersing yourself in water :)

Unique opportunity to experience Japanese Tea Ceremony surrounded by ancient trees and freely roaming deer by Rei - qualified teacher of Japanese “on-the-table Tea Ceremony“ with 30 years’ experience of learning and practicing under Urasenke school master.

*Urasenke: Urasenke (裏千家) is one of the main schools of Japanese tea ceremony. Along with Omotesenke and Mushakōjisenke, it is one of the three lines of the Sen family descending from Sen no Rikyū, which together are known as the san-Senke or the "three Sen houses/families"

Scientific research shows that practicing mindfulness in nature can be especially supportive for the untrained meditators who find meditation indoors somewhat challenging.

Everybody is welcome – whether you are a seasoned yogi/ meditation practitioner or somebody completely new to mindfulness practice altogether. All sessions are designed to allow each and every one of the participants to go at their own pace.

What to expect during the session:

  • fully unplug for 3 hours
  • relax in a small group (up to 8 participants for personalised experience)
  • a slow immersive woodland walk (total distance between 1-2km)
  • simple breathwork techniques throughout
  • reviving all five of your senses
  • unique meditation under the canopy called ‘treelaxation’ combining yoga nidra, visualisation and sound healing
  • Japanese tea ceremony
  • journaling

There has been a substantial amount of studies carried out in Japan since 1980ties that make Japanese scientists view shinrin-yoku/ forest bathing as preventative healthcare due to the potential health benefits listed below:

  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Lowered stress levels
  • Improved cardiovascular and metabolic health
  • Improved sleep
  • Helps to lose weight
  • Lowered blood-sugar levels
  • Improved concentration and memory
  • May lift depression
  • Increased anti-cancer protein production
  • Improved pain thresholds
  • Improved energy levels
  • Balanced immune system

The added benefit of attending Forest Bathing+ in a small group setting is the opportunity to be guided and supported by your session facilitator and surrounded by a community of like-minded people.

I am an experienced Forest Bathing+ Guide certified by The Forest Bathing Institute – the leading UK body for research and training, Royal Parks license holder with permission to operate in Richmond Park and insured practitioner with ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid.
