FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) is a U.S. Treasury bureau that combats money laundering and financial crimes. Real estate — especially non financed transactions, private loans and all cash transactions —
is a known risk area for laundering illicit funds.
To increase transparency, FinCEN has implemented new federal rules requiring the disclosure of beneficial ownership in certain transactions.
