Workshop Overview:

Are you an artist looking to get your finances in order? Join Dana Barnes, a seasoned artist and financial director for an essential workshop on bookkeeping tailored specifically for creatives. This 1.5-hour in-person session will cover everything you need to know to keep your books accurate, organized, and compliant with Massachusetts regulations.

What You'll Learn:

- The basics of setting up a simple but effective bookkeeping system.

- How to navigate the requirements for selling your art in Massachusetts, including collecting sales tax and registering as a sole proprietor or business.

- The importance of distinguishing between personal and business finances, including the benefits of setting up a Schedule C Corporation.

- How to track expenses for materials, travel, and other costs associated with producing and selling art.

- Tips for pricing your artwork and writing off expenses on your taxes.

This workshop is geared towards emerging artists who want to take control of their financial future. While we won't prepare your taxes (we’re not licensed tax preparers), we’ll provide valuable guidance on the processes and considerations every artist should know.

Dana brings a wealth of knowledge in both the creative and financial worlds, making this workshop an invaluable resource for artists at the start of their careers.
