The Township of West Lincoln’s Age Friendly Advisory Committee is proud to present a free presentation, led by a Detective from Niagara Regional Police Service, whereby older adults can learn about financial crimes and gain tools and tips to protect themselves against scams.The presentation will be led by a Detective from Niagara Regional Police Service and will delve into romance scams, crypto scams, spoofing legitimate/trusted businesses, phishing, grandparent scams, malware/spyware and scam implications of artificial intelligence. It will also help to explain who should be trusted, reasons for a power of attorney for personal property and what to do when you are a victim of fraud.
The Financial Crimes presentation will be held in the West Lincoln Council Chambers, at 318 Canborough Street, in Smithville, on Friday, April 11. Doors will open at 9:45 a.m. for light refreshments. The presentation will run from 10 until 11:30 a.m., including time for questions.
