Three foul rule (9ball only)
To make a legal break the cue ball must strike the head ball, or second row of balls and 4 numbered balls must be driven to a rail, or a ball must be pocketed. If the breaker fails to execute a legal break it is the opponent’s option to take the break or allow the breaker to re-rack and break again. Winner of the rack breaks the following rack.
No win or loss on the break in 8-ball. If the 8 ball is made on the break it is the shooters discretion to either re-rack or spot the 8 and continue shooting. If the breaker makes the 8 and scratches it is the incoming player’s discretion to re-rack and break or spot the 8 with ball in hand behind the head string. 9 on the snap is a win.
Open table after the break.
Call the intended ball and pocket unless the shot is obvious. Bank, carom and combo shots are not considered obvious. Call the 8 always.
You may call a safe and pocket a ball to pass the shot to the opponent.
If your opponent is on 3rd foul, you must inform them before they take the shot to win with a 3rd foul.
If your opponent shoots the wrong category of balls, you must inform them before the shoot a second ball or they will assume that category.
If you move any ball while the cue ball is in motion it is ball in hand to the opponent.
It is the winner’s responsibility to report scores to the tournament director.
Once a match is called if the shooter is not at the table within 10 minutes, they will forfeit the match and no scores will be reported to Fargo for that match.
Slow play will not be tolerated. 30 second shot average.
