About this Event

Please join us in celebrating this "homecoming" for a native Baltimorean, MICA alum, and former MICA faculty! This is the final weekend to see the exhibition. See you there!

Jeremy Jirsa's intimate work explores themes of isolation, social anxiety, self-Medic*tion, and depression that stem from living with Tourette Syndrome.

This brand new body of work has been created in the year or so since Jeremy Jirsa moved to LA to teach at Otis College of Art and Design and represents a shift in direction of his work.

"My work while extremely personal hits on larger themes of self doubt, self depreciation, anxiety, social anxiety and the want to conceal an aspect of self," says Jirsa. "Post pandemic, with the rise of mental health awareness, its been amazing talking with people who view my work and seeing how the work can be used to open up a dialogue about mental health and how universal a subject that can feel so isolating has become." Jirsa continues to be a vocal mental health and suicide prevention advocate. [There is always help and you are not alone. Dial 988 if you're in crisis to talk to a trained counselor.]
