“According to Greek mythology, after Zeus created terrestrial beings, Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus were responsible for bestowing different natural gifts and abilities upon each animal: some receive wings, others quick legs, sharp claws, protective shells, etc. When it was man’s turn, who was supposed to be superior to other animals, Epimetheus had already exhausted all resources. His brother Prometheus went on to steal fire from the gods and offered it to humanity, thus ensuring the superiority of men over other animals, but not without incurring the wrath of Zeus...”
In this multimedia performance, inspired by the Indonesian Wayang Kulit shadow theatre tradition, the characters are represented by articulated silhouettes, manipulated on a backlit base.
The set design uses video images and the manipulation of sand on this surface, creating designs and textures that suggest spaces and visual environments. The resulting scenes are captured and processed electronically, then projected onto a screen.
Marcelo Lafontana brings us a reinterpretation of a founding myth, combining ancestral skills and technology.
