"The third and final harvest festival on the Wheel of the Year is Samhain. This Sabbat marks the end of the growing season and the beginning of Winter, which must be prepared for now in earnest. Herbs are dried for winter storage, fruits and vegetables are canned and preserved, and root vegetables are dug up and stored so they may nourish us through the cold months.
While the cycles of life and death are implicitly recognized at every Sabbat, Samhain is when the necessary role of death is formally honored. The nights grow noticeably longer with each day. The God retreats now into the shadows of the dark season, symbolically dying back to the Earth before being reborn again at Yule. Many consider this to be the most important day on the Wheel, a time when the veil between the spirit world and the mundane world is at its thinnest. Our ancestors and loved ones on the Other Side are said to be more easily able to visit with us and make their presence known at this time.."

Many years ago, a club sought to create an experience and play the very best music from the wide spectrum of ambient, drone, electronica, noise, doom, folk, post-rock and anything that's dark & down-tempo, with an emphasis on inclusivity and creating a very different atmosphere to your typical goth club.
When DJ Vilkas, Shadowplay, took over promotion and DJing of Fimbulvetr in 2019 - continuing the ethos and musicality of the original live event, who could have known that the COVID-19 pandemic would force this format onto the livestream platform, where it found success with the citizens of the world.
With society returning to its natural, chaotic state, it only made sense for the event to return once again to its roots; with a group of likeminded souls in a fine drinking establishment.
So join DJ Vilkas and good friend DJ Maria K to harken back to a time when the world was learning to embrace a wider humanity - when different cultures would ultimately converge to share values of tradition, worshipping the earth, and the cycle of nature.
The DJs will play some neofolk-themed music, with a touch of modern dark folk, ethereal and atmospheric, and pagan sounds - as well as some soft and harsh dark ambient and black metal sunds.
All while sipping some fine spirits and engaging discussion. Open to requests and suggestions of direction.
