The Filmonik Kino-Kabaret is our yearly all-you-can-film buffet of spontaneous creativity, where participants collaborate on as many short films as they can, in a shared production space called the Kinolab, at Kindred Studios in Yarraville. This 72-hour jam-session of filmmaking is immediately followed by the premiere screening party of all that has been produced, part of Setting Sun Film Festival. It's fun, it's epic, it's chaotic, it's challenging, you meet heaps of new people and get attached on-the-spot to many productions just by hanging out in the hub. It's not a competition, it's a celebration of film of all scope. There are no teams set in advance, and no creative restrictions on the films. Writers and directors can improvise all weekend or come to the Friday production meeting with a script ready to go, but the magic should happen with the cast and crew participating and present in the hub. Short films can get written, shot and edited all in and around the hub. It's not a requirement but it's how it's done best to learn more, to challenge yourself, to get help when you need it, and to hop on anyone's project and try something new.To see how it goes:

Tickets on sale now on Humanitix. One ticket is for Directors for a spot in the screening and another ticket for all other participants; cast, crew and any other film artisan.
All tickets include:
- Access to our collaborative space and studio at Kindred Studios from the evening of Friday May 17 to Monday May 20 (Kindred opening hours apply).
- Entry to the Monday May 20 short film screening

We're proud and happy to be once again part of Setting Sun Film Festival from May 9 to May 20.
