Then our Filmmaker Bootcamp is for you!
Take your filmmaking skills to the next level with this excellent 4-week class running over four consecutive Saturdays. This class is made up of theory and practice, as students learn the fine details of cinematography and directing from one of our community's most talented professionals.
Session 1 - June 5th
-What's my story and why should I tell it? (leaning into a weakness)
-Screenwriting
-Story/Character Arc
-No flat characters!
-Writing everyday (let it flow)
Sessions 2 - June 12th
-Preproduction
-Casting
-Finding your network (building a crew)
-Breaking down a scene
-Inspiration and mood boards
Sessions 3 - June 19th
-Blocking composition and lighting
-Creating the shot list
-Sound (what you can get away with)
-Managing your set
-What to do as a director (and not to do)!
Sessions 4 - June 26th
-Editing
-Sound design
-Scoring (and how to not overuse it)
Topics we will cover are:
- camera work
- creating your story arc
- outdoor vs indoor shooting
- lenses/exposure
- two sources/three point lighting
- master blocking
- temperature/light measurements and how to use them
- hard vs soft lighting
- how to break down a scene and shoot it
THE BEST PART. We will provide you with all the gear/equipment and tech support.
The cherry on top? This is the best place to find your future crew and collaborators, so don't be shy and come ready to work/learn and meet.
