When: 2. July at 21:00-22:00
Where: Aladdin / RavnBar
Suitable for: Adults

True to tradition, Ravnedans invites you to a movie night where you can experience dance films. This year we will have double bill with the following:

Screensaver series by Janine Harrington
Screensaver Series is a kaleidoscopic dance and sound installation involving 5 dancers and sound coding by musician Jamie Forth. The dancer's perpetual movements evoke the patterns and continuous activity of a screensaver, referencing images from the natural world, care-taking, metamorphosis and evolution. The work offers a meditative space and an alternative attentional contract of activity within inactivity, of hypnosis.
For Ravnedans the work has been reimagined as a digital performance in collaboration with East London Cable, offering the multiple audience perspectives that would usually be experienced in the live performance. Screensaver Series is danced by Vanessa Abreu, Iris Chan, Janine Harrington, Stella Papi and Elisa Vassena.

hello brother by Geir Hytten
The movie version of hello brother challenges the conventions of what a body or a society can or should be. In addition, the restrictions due to the corona virus challenges the possibilities of bodily contact between people. However, we have brought a new player into the game: nature. The result is a meditative experience and a contemplation over the relation human and nature.
Geir Hytten and Stian Vikjord Danielsen are not wrestlers, not brothers, nor Olympic Champions. However, inspired by the Rønningen brothers, they embody the concrete nature of the wrestling world and embrace its shapes and norms. Wrestling here becomes an image of a macro society where rules and conventions set limits for what one can, and cannot, do. At the same time, the fighting bodies on the wrestling mat in front of us gives us a microscopic look into the human handling of life.
In hello brother, Hytten rejects the neoliberal focus on individuality. Instead, he is looking for an experience of fellowship, something greater, something more than oneself, that we can merge into a common body. In a community, we can experience processes and changes that are inaccessible to the single body alone. Perhaps it is only in such a state of community that we can start looking for the human potential?
