Its story concerns a small-time crook (Belmondo) who goes on the run after stealing a car and shooting a policeman. He flees to Paris, where he hooks up with his sometime girlfriend (Seberg) and convinces her to go to Italy with him. But while he waits to collect money some he is owed before leaving, the police have discovered his identity and are gradually closing in… Pulsing with volatile energy yet unexpectedly poignant and tender, Breathless is a vibrant and engaging landmark of modern cinema.
