German Film Screening in Roxbury
From life in the fast lane portfolio manager Oliver (Tom Schilling) ends up straight in a wheelchair: paralyzed after a serious self-inflicted car accident. In addition to a broken body and his new degrading feeling of being “disabled” Oliver has another problem: He must get his illegally earned money from Switzerland to Germany as quickly as possible. Organizing a group excursion for his disabled living community who call themselves "the goldfish” to Switzerland for a camel therapy seems like his best option. The fast-paced road movie which challenges the perception of what is considered “normal” can begin.
A great cast with Jan-Hendrik Stahlberg and Axel Stein as autistic people Jella Haase as the compassionate caregiver Birgit Minichmayr as a brash blind woman Kida Khodr Ramadan as a stoic carer and - great discovery - Luisa Wöllisch as a young woman with Down's syndrome the humor of this fast-paced road movie doesn't stop at any minority - and no majority either. Everything is ruthlessly attacked laughter can be so liberating.
