Join us for a free film screening , as part of Nottingham MELA , of Bhaji on the Beach , a witty, heartfelt British film directed by Gurinder Chadha. It follows a group of British Indian women from different generations who take a day trip to Blackpool. As tensions rise and secrets surface, the women confront personal and cultural challenges, from arranged marriages to racism, while exploring freedom, identity, and solidarity in a seaside setting.Come early at 5 PM for our Community Kitchen! We are excited to present an evening of Bengali food for you to enjoy.

This event is part of Nottingham Mela, taking place from 11th – 14th September and hosted in partnership by Nottingham Asian Arts Council, Nottingham City Council, and New Art Exchange. Be sure to look out for other events taking place at NAE 11th-13th and the grand finale at Wollaton Hall on 14th.
