A new PBS documentary called "Free for All: The Public Library" is premiering on Independent Lens in late April 2025... but we have it a month early just for you!
The film explores how public libraries shaped this country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere. "Free for All: The Public Library" tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the "Free Library Movement" to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
Following the 1 hour film, there will be an up to 1 hour discussion and Q and A session based on the information in the film. We hope this film will inspire conversations about the importance of public libraries in your community.
Cresson Public Library invites you to this special event.
Date: Saturday, March 29
Time: noon-2:00
Location: Mount Aloysius College Cosgrave Center
