Join us on the closing day of Stay in the Light for a screening and conversation with artist Charles Edward Williams. For several years, Williams has used film as another tool for community engagement while exploring cultural identity. The films address topics from Williams’ personal confrontation of fear to a national reckoning with police brutality and the need to reestablish trust in authority. Williams is inspired by the Black experience. His paintings, drawings, videos and installations investigate current historical cultural events related to racism and stereotyping. His works encourage us to examine our moral compass as both individuals and a nation.
The artist’s films include:
Continuum, 2016 – 4:09 min
Nother Day, 2017 – 3:02 min
UNTITLED (son), 2018 – 3:27 min
The Call, 2018 – 6:16 min
Blessings Indigues, 2023 – 3:59 min (unfinished)
