About this Event
Whether you want to learn more about the world of film noir or simply want to enjoy gumshoes and femme fatales battle on screen while sipping wine and eating chocolate, this class is for you! We will cover four film noirs that range in style, theme, and time period while enjoying a range of speciality wines curated by Lake Michigan College's Welch Center. Chef Luis Amado will provide his delicious chocolates as well. Class periods will begin with a brief introduction to the film to help participants better appreciate all the elements that make up a great film noir, followed by a screening of the film, followed by a discussion. Join film and literature scholar Erik Mortenson to learn more about this fascinating film genre in a fun, relaxing, and tasty environment. Everyone is welcome! Each participant over 21 years of old, will receive 2 tokens for wine, and chocolate and other munchies.
This film will be Double Indemnity (1944). Coming up films include Touch of Evil (1958), Out of the Past (1947) and The Big Heat (1953).
