About this Event
People often ask us after our film screenings: "how can I learn to work with film?" Pittsburgh Sound + Image finally brings to you an opportunity to get your hands on film! This three hour crash course, led by PSI projectionist and archivist Steven Haines, is an introduction to the fundamentals of 16mm motion picture film handling and projection.
Each participant will complete an assessment of a short film, from hand inspection to making necessary repairs to completing a condition report. Additionally, we'll explore the funkier side of film tactility by creating our own direct-on-film animated movies! Finally, each person will learn the basics of film projection and will have the opportunity to project a film for the class.
Don't miss this chance to immerse yourself for an afternoon in the vanishing artform of analog film! All materials are provided. Space is very limited so that each participant can receive individual instruction.
