Instead of organizing a Christmas Cookie Exchange, I thought this would be a great idea to help some of the women in need on the street.
We will be hosting a "fill a purse" gathering at the Howl on Cumberland The purses will be dropped off and given in person to women in need on the street of Thunder Bay. I hope to have at least 10-20 purses full of toiletry items, needed essentials and maybe a treat or two. I hope to deliver these during the holidays more than likely on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve if there is anyone that would like to do that with me let me know.
Please gather good used purses, cross body are best for security reasons. If you would like to contribute items and cannot make it to the event contact me and I can pick up items if you live in Thunder Bay.
Some ideas for items to fill the purses:
Socks, underwear, lighters, wipes, lip balm, small gift cards, hair brushes, toothbrushes, deodorant, hand cream, toothpaste, makeup items, rolling papers (yep for butts and pot, if you can put those into a ziploc bag thats best!!), hand warmers, small flashlights, coins, matches, travel sizes of shampoo, perfume samples, hair care items that are small, jewellery sets, tonques! You get the idea.
I already have some brand new pairs of warm socks thank you to Sandra Henningson, as she contributed to this in honour of our late friend Harpdog Brown.
The Howl has refreshments available for sale : coffee, tea and pop.
