Las Vegas, NV — October 2025
The City of Las Vegas presents See the Music All Around Us, a new public art installation by Filipino-American artist Loisse Ledres, on view from October 2025 to March 2026 at the Las Vegas City Hall.
Combining vibrant paint colors, layered wood cuts, and colorful lighting, the installation celebrates the universal joy of music and the shared experience of dancing together. Featuring abstracted figures in motion, See the Music All Around Us captures the fleeting feeling of being surrounded by sound — remembering only flashes of light, laughter, and movement from a night of celebration.
Ledres draws deeply from her Filipino upbringing, where music and dance were at the heart of every gathering — from karaoke-filled fiestas to family reunions that always included performances. Her theater and background in set-design also echo in her large-scale visual compositions. “Music was always around me growing up. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was how we expressed joy, connection, and belonging,” she says. “This piece captures all of that energy — a tribute to community, culture, and the creative pulse of Las Vegas.”
Inspired by 1970s concert posters and handmade zines, Ledres channels the freedom and spontaneity of music into these dimensional wood pieces that represent layers of sound and nostalgia. Situated between the Arts District, Downtown, and the Strip, the installation at 1st street reflects Las Vegas’s creative and diverse community, particularly honoring the Filipino and Asian-Pacific Islander artists who continue to shape the city’s cultural landscape. The installation invites viewers to slow down, look closer, and “see the music” that surrounds them in everyday life. .
An opening celebration will take place at the City Hall on October 23rd, 5-7pm. Visitors are encouraged to experience the installation both by day and night, when lighting transforms the piece into a glowing celebration of movement and color that can be enjoyed both up close and in passing.
