TOURNAMENT FORMAT
Three Rounds – Swiss Pairing
Scenario for all three rounds will be Scenario 2: Fighter Sweep, with the following modifications:
Tables will be 4x4
Rounds will run no more than 60 minutes. The goal will be 15 minutes between rounds; we achieved that handily last time, so I’m trusting we will do the same this time around.
Maximum of one element for each player can begin the scenario disadvantaged
Disadvantaged elements must be placed minimum of 9” from each other. Engaged elements must still be placed a minimum of 18” from enemy aircraft
High Cover aircraft arriving simultaneously from the same location will be placed slowest first, with the fastest placed as close as possible to their High Cover Marker, while still touching the board edge and still keeping formation integrity (3”)
Victory Determination:
A win is defined as only one squadron retreating or having all their aircraft shot down by the last game turn
A draw is defined as both squadrons retreating or having all their aircraft shot down by the last game turn
A loss is defined as having your squadron retreat or all aircraft shot down by the last game turn
Points
A win is worth 30 points plus the number of boom chits inflicted upon your opponent
A draw is worth 10 points plus the number of boom chits inflicted upon your opponent.
A loss is worth the points equal to the number of boom chits inflicted upon your opponent
If a game ends due to allotted time expiring, the player with the most boom chits is awarded a win and the other a loss. Ties result in a draw as listed above.
FORCE BUILDING
Force Size: One Squadron divided into 2-3 elements as ruled below.
500 points total, single squadron of a single aircraft type, broken down into elements
Squadron size: Minimum 4 aircraft, Maximum 8 aircraft
Minimum number of elements: 2 elements per squadron
Minimum element size: 2 aircraft
Acceptable Aircraft
Any Non-jet / Non-rocket / Non-Korea era aircraft from the BRS Master List (1 Dec 2022)
Multi-Engine Fighters may be used but will adhere to the Heavy Fighter optional rule in the Airstrike rulebook. Cost per multi-engine “Heavy Fighter” will be calculated as the point value listed in the BRS Master List from the Lead Pursuit Podcast website at -5 points. (For example, the Bf110G is listed in the BRS Master List at 39 points, so for the purposes of this event, they will cost 34 points each). The link to the BRS Master List is below. Pilot Skills
No named Aces may be taken.
All un-named Ace skills must be unique and may not be repeated in a player’s force

Players must supply the following for their squadron:
Aircraft miniatures (no proxies) – BRS official or 3d Printed will do; planes must be painted (at least three colors if appropriate)
Advantages bases, to include pilot skill discs
Aircraft / trait / equipment / ace / doctrine cards
Activation markers and dice’
Players must use the standard advantage stands from Blood Red Skies. No substitutes will be allowed.
The Tournament Organizer will supply
Game Mats
Cloud markers (optionally can be supplied by the players)
Theater cards
Trait, Ace, Theater and Doctrine Cards
Tournament will use the Open Play Action Deck optional rule from Airstrike. Players will choose one Doctrine card (without faction restrictions) and may pay for a single equipment card. Equipment cards can change between rounds based on the table assigned to the players, but must be picked before choosing attacker/defender roles. Theater cards will be dictated by the table/TOs.
Order of setup
Players will be assigned a table by the TO’s during each round to ensure an even rotation.
Players will roll a die with the higher rolling player choosing to be the attacker or defender
Once players have determined attacker/defender, they then choose 2 of the Theater cards in secret.
Players draw 2 cloud markers each and alternate deploying them starting with the defender.
Players then play any Theater card that take effect during deployment, with all cards taking effect simultaneously.
Players then follow the deployment rules for the scenario
Rule and Point Updates
Rules will be per the Airstrike rulebook.
