Fight Precarity & Organise!

Join the NUJ Glasgow Branch for a discussion on the realities of precarious work and life, and learn explore how workers can organise and fight for security, dignity, and equality.
This session brings together Arusa Qureshi, Stella Small and Panos Theodoropoulos to share experiences, commonalities and challenges, and discuss strategies for building solidarity and pushing for systemic change.

Together, we’ll consider how to transform unstable working and living conditions conditions into more caring and secure futures for all.

All welcome to attend! Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Contributor Bios
Arusa Qureshi
Arusa is a writer, editor and music programmer based in Edinburgh. She is the former Editor of both Fest Magazine and The List and now writes mostly about music. Her work has appeared in the Scotsman, Clash, the Guardian, GoldFlakePaint, Time Out, the Quietus, NME and more.
Arusa chairs the board of the Scottish Music Centre, sits on the board of the Music Venue Trust and is the co-curator of the award-winning Amplifi series at Edinburgh's Queens Hall. Her first book, Flip the Script – about women in UK hip hop, was published by 404 Ink.
Stella Small
Stella was a part of the Village Hotel strike, where as a member of the Starbucks department in the hotel, she and others were the first Starbucks members in the UK to take part in formal industrial action. Stella now works as an industrial officer for Unite Hospitality, helping other baristas and hotel workers in Glasgow.

Panos Theodoropoulos
Panos is organised with the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and is a founding member of the Interregnum collective. He works in the areas migration, precarity, and collective resistance and teaches social sciences in King's College London.
