In 2024, our longtime Shuck Cancer Night needed a new spark. What began years ago as a partnership with the American Cancer Society has now grown into something even more meaningful — one that reflects not only our commitment to cancer research, but our desire to directly support patients and families right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Fight Like a Shucker Night is the newly reimagined version of this event, led by our own Community Development Manager, David Blackwell, who took his personal experiences, community connections, and deep passion for the cause and brought a new vision to life.
From the loss of his Uncle Charlie, to high school friends, local coaches, and even members of our own gameday staff and team leadership who’ve faced recent diagnoses, this night is built on the real and raw truth that cancer touches all of us — and in Biloxi, we believe in fighting back together.
That vision sparked the creation of the Heart of a Shucker Cancer Alliance, a collective initiative uniting several organizations for one shared purpose:

🦪 What to Expect:
Player-worn jersey auction during the game featuring custom-designed uniforms by local artist Julia Reyes — unique to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and worn by the team on the field that night.
On-field recognitions honoring those who are currently battling, those we’ve lost, and those forever impacted by this disease.

This isn’t just about raising money. It’s about raising awareness, rallying together, and making a real impact — for research, for families, and for our neighbors who need it most.
