Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John each report how shortly after Jesus began his public ministry, he began to call disciples to follow him, learn from him, and eventually be sent out as full-time ministers to preach the Gospel in his name. Jesus came to save us, and he calls his apostles so that they may teach us and preach the Good News to us, so that we, too, may be counted among the sisters and brothers Christ. Praise God!
