Fife Doors Open Weekend 13th & 14th SeptemberLeslie Community Dig at Christ Kirk on the Green
The Leslie Heritage Group participated in last year’s Doors Open Days, held annually to raise awareness and celebrate the value of cultural heritage across Scotland.
Doors Open, coordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust, is part of European Heritage Days and runs alongside Scottish Archaeology Month. It is delivered in collaboration with Fife Council to bringing people together, highlight the need for continuous protection of our shared built & cultural heritage, and to allow access to places and activities not usually open to the public.
Last year, seventy people visited Leslie over the weekend and participated in our guided walk and photographic exhibition to celebrate the 12th century origins of our town.
This year we invite you to come along to Christ's Kirk on the Green to visit our first Leslie Community Dig. Pop along between 10am and 4pm to see what we are doing, what we might have found, and maybe even have a go at digging yourself if you fancy it!
We won't be offering guided tours around the graveyard this year, but why not take the opportunity to have a wander through it, or maybe a stroll along the High Street that forms part of the Pilgrim's Way Leslie loop. The Town Hall, less than 100 yards from the dig site, will be open for teas and coffees, why not see what show's they have coming up?
