FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**Isis Rosario, Major in the US Army, performing at Fiesta del Sol Festival.McLean, VA — Isis Rosario, also known as Major Rosario, is a dedicated US Army nurse with 17 years of active service. Throughout her remarkable career, she has exemplified the Army's motto, “Be All You Can Be.” Major Rosario (a.k.a. The Salsa Nurse) has successfully blended her military service with her passion for music, recording over 30 songs across three albums and performing throughout the United States as recording artist Izis La Enfermera de la Salsa.
On Saturday, March 21, at 9 PM, Izis La Enfermera will perform at the Fiesta del Sol Festival, a Latin American and Caribbean Celebration held annually at the McLean Community Center. Admission is free. Net proceeds will be donated to the Friends of McLean Community Center, a nonprofit committed to the Center and the community. Major Rosario’s journey has incorporated music into her military career, including entertaining generals and other leaders, and raising awareness of music’s power within the military community.
Her heartfelt performances extend to her patients, where she utilizes music as a therapeutic tool. Believing in the transformative power of music, Major Rosario has also initiated numerous endeavors to motivate others and unite people through music, including a nationwide fundraiser for “Corro con Salsa.”
Izis La Enfermera is currently on a mission to increase the number of nurses in the Army. As a Brigade Nurse Counselor for ROTC, she is dedicated to cultivating awareness of pathways for young nursing students to become Army nurses. Major Rosario is working to increase the number of nurses, including those with multicultural backgrounds.Through her music and advocacy, Major Rosario inspires others to realize that they, too, can “Be All You Can Be.” Her efforts highlight the vital connection between music, nursing, community service, and serving her country, the United States of America.
