Fiesta De la Guadalupana Lantern Workshop @The Woo
Fiesta De la Guadalupana Lantern Workshop Overview
The miraculous image of an Indigenous Mary, imprinted on Juan Diego's cloak , contains a wealth of symbols that resonate with pre-Hispanic beliefs and remains a powerful, unifying symbol for Mexican people and culture. Artistic engagement in the community serves to protect and preserve what is best about humanity; the beauty and virtues that are being threatened in these trying times. In this lantern making workshop, individuals are encouraged to celebrate the miraculous in their own lives and to represent the spectacular in their own identities, both personal and communal.
