About this Event
The University of South Florida Botanical Gardens are located on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, United States, and consist of about 8 acres of developed gardens plus another 8 acres of natural woodlands.
The Gardens are currently managed by Dr. Craig Huegel, a founding member of the Pinellas Chapter of FNPS. Dr. Huegel has added many Florida native plants to the Gardens and to the Plant Shop that also includes many edible plants.
We will meet at the Gardens at 9 a.m. and after a tour, will proceed to the USF Library at around 11 a.m. for a visit to the USF Herbarium. The Herbarium holds over 270,000 specimens and is recognized as the second largest in Florida, specializing in taxonomy and regional biodiversity.
Admission to the Gardens is $5, payable by credit or debit card only (no cash is accepted). Children under 12 are admitted for free, and USF students/faculty/staff and USF Botanical Gardens members also receive free admission. More information.
NOTE: There is free parking at the Gardens, but not at the Library. You can walk to the library from the Gardens, or buy a one-day parking pass to park in the Library parking lot.
Please bring sun protection and plenty of drinking water.
