Join leaders from Friends of Buford Park (Sha Cabal, Katelin Kutella, Emily Cook, Opal Home, and guest speaker from Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah) for a late summer bioblitz at Mt. Pisgah’s South Bottomlands, where we’ll explore the intersection of land stewardship, prescribed fire, native plant restoration, and community science. We’ll document plants and insects using iNaturalist, helping to capture how species in different life stages (phenophases) respond to seasonal and long-term management. A representative from Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah will share insights into the site’s restoration history and upcoming management plans.Participants will be guided through using the iNaturalist app to post observations, contributing to a dedicated project page for the day. Whether you're a seasoned observer or brand new to community science, all are welcome, and any plant or insect observation in any life stage is valuable.
Expect a mild, flat hike (~2 miles round trip) with frequent stops for observation. Please bring water and snacks, and be prepared for late-summer weather.
Meet at the Mt. Pisgah Arboretum parking lot at 8:30 am.
