About this Event
Field sketching combines accurate drawing with a sensitivity to the beautiful and fascinating features of nature. The journal format allows you to record your observations of nature throughout the year. In this workshop learn about creating detailed studies of flora and fauna using graphite and/or colored pencil.
All levels of drawing experience are welcome.

BIOGRAPHY
Barbara has been a botanical artist for over twenty five years with a growing interest in depicting edible plants as well as native plants of the oak/hickory forest and river habitats of mid-Michigan. She uses graphite, colored pencil, and watercolor or a combination of media for her botanical drawings and paintings.
Her work has been exhibited throughout the country including the 10th International Exhibit of Botanical Art and Illustration at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation. One of her paintings is in the permanent collection at the Hunt Institute and numerous paintings and drawings are in private collections.
For over eighteen years, she has been teaching botanical art, natural science illustration, and field sketching at the Flint Institute of Arts, the Shiawassee Art Center, and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center.
