In the spirit of the borderless theme of our last symposium, the Windsor Chapter of the Ontario Archaeological Society is excited to launch our 2026 public lecture series: “Field Notes from Abroad.” This series brings fresh, on-the-ground perspectives from other regions and traditions, inviting us to compare, question, and sharpen how we do archaeology here at home. Our first event is an evening lecture and discussion at the University of Windsor, Memorial Hall (Room 201), on Friday, February 27, 6:00–8:00 PM.
We’re delighted to welcome Archaeologist Heather Graham, who has worked on excavations in both the United Kingdom and Canada. Heather will deliver a lively comparative talk on what changes and what stays surprisingly consistent when you cross the Atlantic: different regulatory frameworks and professional pathways, different approaches to fieldwork and reporting, and the day-to-day realities of practice in each context. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion and Q&A.
