About this Event
The work of women in the British army and in the Normandy landings of June 1944 is only now getting the attention it deserves. The Queen Alexandra Nursing Corps played a vital role in support of the wounded and dying after the landings and during the drive to Germany in 1944 and 1945.
We are lucky to have a wonderfully vivid and entertaining set of diaries for this period, kept by QA Sister Mary Morris (born and raised in Galway). Her feisty, irreverent and perceptive character shines through the superb off-the-cuff writing in the diaries.
Dr Carol Acton (University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) has edited the diaries and is presenting a study of the work of Mary Morris and QA nurses after the landings in Normandy.
