Field videography refers to any production (fiction or documentary) whose filming takes place outside of a traditional movie or TV studio, and it comes with a unique set of challenges. Our expert instructor (an award-winning documentary filmmaker!) will first give you a foundational understanding of critical film production terminology and theory. Then, you will jump into a hands-on study of the core techniques of camera work, including how to block and frame your subject, and the essentials of camera movement, angles, and positioning. We will also cover the basics of lighting a subject, including the ubiquitous three and two-point lighting, as well as how to make the most of natural light.
