Fiction 440, Lansing’s home for flash fiction, has reached a milestone. On Monday (not Tuesday), March 9th we will be celebrating our 100th event! We will meet at Jimmy’s Pub in East Lansing. If you haven’t been for a long time we’d like to see you to help us celebrate. The words will be Extraordinary, Hundred and Trump (just a common card playing term). If you can find a copy of the first Fiction 440 story you wrote, bring it along. Perhaps we can make time to read them. Dessert will be provided.
If you have never attended, here’s how it works: Fiction 440 it is a gathering of short fiction writers. Usually there are 3 words supplied that are writing prompts and must be included in the text. As the name implies the stories should not contain more than 440 words and should also be fiction. For these events there is no judging, just hearty applause for everyone, and there is no poetry allowed (don’t ask me why, I didn’t make the rules).
If you don’t like to write stories, but do like to listen to stories, you are welcome to come. People may begin to arrive at 5:30 for a chance to get something to eat, something to drink, and a chance to socialize. Stories begin at 6:30.
