This talk traces the contentious creation of a 1763 caricature and portrait print that resulted from a feud between engraver and sitter and shaped the celebrity of one of the most scandalous English politicians in the eighteenth century. This print of John Wilkes by William Hogarth is part of the art museum's new print exhibit, Celebrity in Print. After the talk, we will go on a tour of the exhibit.
