For over 20 years, FESTURI has hosted annual multicultural dance and music festival.

FESTURI started with students and teachers of the Sunshine Coast Intensive English Language Unit in Nambour in 1999 to share their culture with the aim of helping them feel at home in this strange new country.

It began as a concert-type program featuring songs and dance from the many cultures housed there.

It has grown over the years, morphing from a small concert to a week-long fringe festival to a one-day signature event, expanding locations, and continuing to grow.

Migrants see the festival as an opportunity to educate the young, mingle with family and friends, and embrace their own culture.

Sunshine Coasters and Interstate visitors have the opportunity to experience the festival's broad diversity of culture within their backyard and open their minds to different ways of thinking.

And be immersed in the sensual, extravagant, and heart-throbbing intensity of drumming, world music, and colourful ethnic dance.

"More FESTURI Fun. So many different ways to dance!" - Sadi Myers

"I've been to other festivals, paid festivals, and the quality of the music here is just as good as those festivals" - Charlie

"I had an awesome experience. Love the MC conducting the program. Well done! Looking forward to a bigger and better festival for next year. Whole day's event... was good" - Florence Kamen

Multicultural festivals are an effective way for cultural groups to share their stories.

When we fail to share and communicate the differences of our culture with each other, this can lead to narrowed perspectives, social anxiety, and a sense of isolation in a group.

We've all seen the results when people are intolerant of each other, have low self-esteem, or feel left out.

By sharing our stories, we can develop an awareness of another's journey and relate it to our own. And are able to easily accept another person for who they are and where they come from.

And that is why FESTURI was established: to share culture through music and celebration.

A Unique Blend of Music and Dance

Each and every FESTURI festival is a unique blend of music and dance, food and culture, art and craft, people, and personalities.
