About this Event
Escape the Christmas crowds with a relaxing half-day introduction to the beautiful craft of fused glass. Mince pies, hot drinks and other Christmas treats will help you to get in the festive mood so why not bring a friend?
In this longer introductory course, you will learn how to cut glass first and then you will have a chance to design, cut and make your own selection of fused glass Christmas decorations using top quality Bullseye sheet and accessory glass (including some accessory glass unique to Annette’s classes). Each student will make approximately 6 to 8 decorations such as snowmen, robins, stars, Christmas trees and mistletoe (or your own Christmas-themed decoration) or alternatively you can make a larger fused glass panel. If you make a larger piece, this will look lovely in a frame or hung in a well-lit spot or it can be curved to be free-standing or you could purchase a beautiful oak stand at the class for your piece (available to view at the class.)
Your decorations will last for many Christmases to come and also make beautiful gifts. You are also welcome to make a different themed piece if Christmas isn’t your thing!
Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself to be creative or ‘arty’. Fused glass is a very forgiving medium and even complete beginners can get fantastic results on their first attempt. Annette will provide example decorations, templates and ideas to get you started but the design and colour possibilities are endless and your decorations will be beautiful and unique.
Your decorations will be fired by Annette in a specialist glass kiln after the course and will be available for collection about a week later or they can be posted to you for the cost of postage.
The recommended age for this course is 12+ to adult. If you have a younger child who wants to do this course and has previously done a fused glass course either with Annette or elsewhere, this may be possible but please discuss with Annette before booking them on.
The course will be run in a small group to ensure lots of individual attention and is subject to a minimum number of people attending. If less than the minimum number sign up to this workshop, you can transfer to another session or get a full refund.
Gift vouchers (valid for 1 year and redeemable against all courses) are also available and make fantastic Christmas presents. Annette can also offer private and corporate workshops for groups, just get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
Venue: The workshop will take place at Annette’s Plymouth Studio (Annette Daly Glass Unit 26, HQ Business Centre, 237 Union Street, Stonehouse, Plymouth, PL1 3HQ.) There are some free visitor spaces in the HQ car park (including several disabled spaces) or there is on street parking or there are several parking lots within walking distance. Please allow time for parking.
Next steps – if you enjoy this workshop and want to do more fused glass, Annette also offers longer and multi-part fused glass workshops as well as fused glass jewellery workshops where you can learn additional skills and make more complex pieces.
