D E S C R I P T I O NLearn the art of Silk painting using wax resist and inks. The wax is applied using “Batik” methods but instead of dipping the fabric into dye, the colour is applied by painting silk inks directly onto the fabric giving much fresher and vibrant results.
Where the magic happens when the jewel toned inks flow onto the silk. This is such an organic way of making art, you can draw your design straight onto the silk with the wax after you’ve had a practice on paper first. Or if you’re feeling a little nervous there are some magic disappearing fabric pens to hand if you prefer to sketch your outline first onto silk. These lines vanish at the end when the wax gets ironed off. On a wellbeing note, it’s the process of making these batiks that’s to be enjoyed, rather than focussing on the end result. It’s such a beautiful mindful process, and the outcome is always a lovely surprise. You can’t always control every drop of wax or ink, so there is joy in relaxing and enjoying the process.
