About this Event
*** Please note: we are using a ballot for the Festival of Stuff masterclasses this year. Please read the booking information carefully before you proceed, and enter the ballot between 5-8 May. Due to the popularity of the masterclasses, we can only allow one masterclass booking per person across the whole programme. ***
In this silversmithing masterclass, jewellers Bine & Rahel join forces to teach you a series of precious metal-working techniques: how to anneal, shape, twist, cut, file and solder silver wire. Both Rahel and Bine's design practices are described by strong minimal shapes – designs that frame and integrate the body - and with physical samples on hand, they will explore and inspire your own design choices during the session. You will leave with a self-made unique piece of jewellery: a ring, earring, cuff or pendant, the choice is yours!
Rahel is a jewellery and accessories designer and educator. She holds a MA in Textile Design from the Royal College of Art and a previous degree in Jewellery and Everyday object Design from the School of Design in Pforzheim, Germany. Based in London and Berlin, Rahel recently started her own business and is teaching at different institutions across the UK.
Bine is a material specialist and jewellery designer. Since her graduation at the Royal College of Art in MA Textiles Mixed Media, Bine has been teaching at different institutions internationally, including London College of Fashion and Chelsea College of Art. She is a member of the design platform Peut-Porter
This masterclass is suitable for ages 18+, aside from that, no experience or skill necessary, all welcome!
