Festival of Debate: What’s better than “Value for Money”....?
A learning and participatory event
The use of VfM (Value for Money) assessments is widespread in deciding what is funded and, ultimately, what is considered worthwhile for public money of all kinds - and beyond.
But the current ways of thinking about VfM often do not
allow "good things" to happen because they don't fit the
typical VfM mould. So… “What’s better than VfM”?
The event is led by Stuart Astill, a Sheffield-based international
expert on VfM, who has worked across a wide variety of projects. His experience
covers the UN and World Bank, many areas of UK Government and local and
grassroots organisations.
Stuart will explain how VfM is typically assessed and, with his
guests, explore the importance and major shortcomings of where VfM is currently
at.
A participatory session with attendees will then seek to outline
the challenges and opportunities and consider ways forward - including setting
challenges for Stuart to solve and report back on!
Finally a panel discussion will take questions and suggestions
from the participants.
Everyone is welcome to this event to start, together, to visualise
what is “Better than VfM” and hopefully give a name to it.
