About this Event
Lexington's 250th birthday deserved a very special musical gift. Everett McCorvey's vision for a festival focused on Lexington's rich heritage and history of sacred music and the churches, synagogues, chapels, sanctuaries, houses of prayer and places of peace that we call home make this inaugural event a present to the community and the city.
To open the gift of In One A-Chord: Lexington Sacred Music Festival presented by CHI Saint Joseph Health, we are honored that our Composer in Residence, Johnie Dean, has arranged the composition "Rejoice" (based upon Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee) in recongition of this special occasion. Johnie's works have been heard across the globe and we are proud that 250LEX has commissioned this piece.
All churches, synagogues, chapels, sanctuaries, houses of prayer and places of peace are encouraged on Sunday, September 21, 2025 to include "Rejoice" in their liturgies as a unifying measure to begin not only the Festival, but to unify our community through the one language we all understand -- MUSIC.
Downloadable sheet music and mp3 recording can be found at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XsGNvCnC2UJIhnIYpRWnJVDe23nzDYn5?usp=share_link
And one last request! Please record (audio and/or video) your performance of "Rejoice" and upload to https://www.everettmccorvey.com/contact . We want to put the recordings into a compilation that the whole city can enjoy listening to.
