ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Ohso is an International, Mixed Media Artist, Graphic Designer, Childrens book Illustrator & Educator. This Native New Orleanian is a dedicated wife and mother and although she has challenges with Osteoarthritis and is on the Autism Spectrum, she is quite productive and enjoys painting imaginative, 3-D composition portraits of Women of Color, often including Afrocentric Hairstyles, Scandinavian & Japanese Influences, Floral Motifs & Adinkra Symbols. The pieces she creates emphasize the interconnectedness between our hair, identity and spirituality. Although her family history is riddled with poverty, abuse, addiction, and estrangement, her work repeats the themes of peace, beauty, strength, and growth thru wisdom in learning from her past.
