NASIM and The Women´s Council Denmark present a conversation on feminist research and activism in Egypt, with Amel Fahmy, managing director of Tadwein Gender Research Center in Egypt, Fatma Ibrahim, founder and director of The Sex Talk Arabic and Jihan Zakarriya, Assistant Professor at Aarhus University researching “Gender and environmental violence in Arabic literature and culture”. The talk will include discussions on MeToo, gender-based violence and how feminist activism has changed over the past few years.
Amel Fahmy is the founder and director of Tadwein Gender Research Center in Egypt, which carries out advocacy-oriented research to combat Gender based violence. She has worked in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights for the past twenty years at agencies such as WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA and has co-founded feminist initiatives such as INTACT and HarassMap,
Fatma Ibrahim is founder and executive director of the online collective The Sex Talk Arabic. Fatma is a feminist, researcher, writer and activist.
Jihan Zakarriya is assistant professor at Aarhus University. In her postdoctoral research, Jihan explores how feminist activism against sexual and gender
