In this experimental workshop you will try out ideas and learn to exploit the special qualities of hand-made felt and you’ll be inspired to create new stitches and designs. This workshop is suitable for embroiderers from novice to advanced, but not for complete beginners.
Handmade felt can be purchased from the tutor on the day at a cost of £8 or you can bring your own. Additional pieces can also be bought from the tutor on the day. Please bring fine to thick embroidery threads and your hand sewing kit. You may also like to bring:
Additions, including beads, spangles, shisha, buttons, etc.
Exotic scraps, including silks, organza, metallics.
Cords, knitting yearn, ribbon.
Scraps of commercial felt/wadding.
Tissue paper, prefelt.
Cotton calico, Vilene or Stitch-and-Tear.
Needle-felting tools.
Design sources, sketchbook, photographs.
Course fees include refreshments throughout the day, including fresh coffees, teas and a tasty two course lunch.
The workshop takes place in the First Floor Gallery space. There is a flight of stairs and no lift access. If you have any access issues, please get in touch to discuss alternative arrangements.
