"Feel the Spirit" is a work by Sir John Rutter, consisting of seven arranged American spirituals for mezzo-soprano, choir, and orchestra. Rutter arranged the work for the singer Melanie Marshall, inspired by her solo interpretations of spirituals, and we are thrilled she will be singing for us here in Grimsby. The arrangements were first premiered at Carnegie Hall in 2001 and have since been recorded by the Cambridge Singers and other ensembles. Howard Goodall's Eternal Light: A Requiem is a moving stand-alone choral work that had its London premiere in November 2008 in an exciting collaborative version for choir, soloists, orchestra and dance. We are delighted to be singing this piece again, after first singing it almost ten years ago.
