Step 3. The band limps on. You immediately forget Step 2.
Step 4. You shout along to songs about office Christmas parties, emotionally unavailable baristas, and that one tradie who ghosted you even though they absolutely initiated the eye contact.
Step 5. Someone tells you it’s The Mean Times’ last Melbourne show for awhile, and suddenly you're holding your friends close, a stranger, the juicebox, whispering “don’t ever change.”
Step 6. You wake up the next morning smelling faintly of smoke machines and longing, clutching a lukewarm potato cake and the phone number of someone saved only as “??? Old Bar”.
And somehow, everything feels okay.
