On Wednesday, February 18 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers are invited to join artist Holly Gottenborg for a gentle Japanese textile art workshop at the Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head. This gentle, hands-on workshop offers a space to slow down, create, and connect through art. Participants will be introduced to Kinusaiga, a Japanese textile art form where colorful fabric scraps are pressed into carved surfaces to create beautiful, no-sew, textured images. Using simple tools and guided instruction, you’ll design and assemble a small fabric artwork that becomes a personal symbol of resilience, reflection, or hope.
No sewing or prior art experience is needed; just a willingness to explore and enjoy the calming, tactile nature of this process.
Cost: Thanks to a Community Benefit Grant from Outer Banks Health, this workshop is free for cancer survivors, patients and their caregivers, and all supplies are included.
Although class is free, pre-registration is required so that the instructor can plan ahead for supplies. You can register online at DareArts.org/workshops or by calling Dare Arts at 252 473 5558.
Class is limited to 15 students.
Class location: Class will be held at the Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head.
