About this Event
The training will be delivered as a blended learning course. An online component must be completed before attending the in-class session. The in-class session is a ONE-day, in-person session focusing on skills demonstration, which will be held on campus in Peterborough, and the online component is expected to take approximately 8 hours to complete. You do not have to complete all 8 hours at once, as the online component is self-paced. However, it must be completed before the in-person training component, or you will not be allowed entry to the in-person session and your certification will be incomplete.
Employees must confirm their availability to participate in this blended learning course with their supervisor. The Health and Safety office will be reaching out to all supervisors for confirmation. If confirmation is not received promptly, then you will be deregistered from the session.
You will receive an email from the Health and Safety team approximately 2-4 weeks prior to the in-person session, which will include a link and instructions to complete the online portion of your training through the Canadian Red Cross website.
This training is being provided to help University Departments ensure emergency first aid is promptly available to all employees should the need arise in their work areas. Employees who complete this course will be asked to post their first aid certificates and provide first aid assistance, to the best of their abilities, as required. This information will also be posted on the Health and Safety Portal and bulletin boards. Please review the First Aid Procedure for objectives, roles, responsibilities, and protocols associated with first aid.
Please note if a registrant is unable to complete the online component, attend the in-person training, and their spot cannot be filled, the training registration fee will be charged to their department.
