February 2025 Reading of the Word - Learn to Prophesy Class

Prophecy is a gift of speech or message that comes from the Holy Spirit and is to be desired (1 Corinthians 14:1, 39). Everyone can learn to prophesy - to listen, hear, and share the message of God to encourage, comfort, and help people. Corinthians 14:31: “For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.” As for the spiritual gift of prophecy, the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts and decides who, what, and when such gifts shall manifest in a person. Not everyone has the spiritual gift of prophecy, but we are encouraged to seek spiritual gifts, including prophecy, for the edification and encouragement of the Church.

What is the Goal?

This is an ongoing class to learn to hear the Holy Spirit's word or message, and once participants can do this, the goal is to use this skill to strengthen, encourage, comfort, and support our fellow Christians.

Why is this Important?

To build your faith. Faith comes by hearing God, and you have a good conscience by doing God’s word. Once you hear, have faith and obey.

Attendance?

You do not have to attend every class, but we ask that you commit to developing your skills in the frequency you can reasonably do so. Most people will find that attending two classes in a row helpful. Come and join us when you're ready! Everyone will be at different levels, and that's fine. Your journey and skill development are individual ones that we will facilitate.

What to expect?

The class will open with a brief overview of how to hear the Holy Spirit's message, and then, for the remaining time, you will participate in hands-on exercises (reading of the Word) to learn and practice. Everyone will be at different levels, and we can learn and encourage each other to learn this skill and put it into action. You don’t have to attend all the classes to participate, but be willing to join a supporting, loving community dedicated to learning and eventually applying this skill to your circles.

This class is free and open to everyone. You do not have to be a St. Francis' Church member to participate. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!
