The Homestead will offer an OWL PROWL evening. Come and learn a bit about these mysterious raptors of the night. We will start the evening indoors, learning about what makes these animals so supremely adapted to “the night life.” We will then head outside to see if we can hear and spot some local owls.
Be sure to bring your phones, since this program will include a brief tutorial on using the Cornell Labs MerlinID app so we can register our sightings.
While it is not guaranteed we will find any owls, we want to remind all kiddos AND adults that we need to be quiet in order to have the best chance of hearing and seeing these shy birds.
Please dress for the weather and note that due to this being a working farm this event may not be for everyone. We will primarily stick to the farm roads but they are uneven in spots. This is a weather/condition dependent - if it is raining/snowing or the conditions are not safe to be walking around, we will contact you ASAP!
All participants must bring a flashlight.
